What is the Tellington TTouch® Method?

Tellington TTouch® isn't just another training technique – it's a revolutionary approach that works with your dog's nervous system, not against it. Developed 50 years ago by Linda Tellington-Jones and her sister Robyn Hood, this gentle method combines specific circular touches, mindful movement exercises, and respectful handling to create profound changes in behaviour, confidence, and wellbeing.

Learn To Observe Dogs

In this training you will learn to observe your dog and how they are communicating with you. You will also learn about freework and how to use it to observe dogs and help them to relax and to build their confidence and optimism

Learn Bodywork

Gentle circular touches (imagine a clock face) that activate both sides of the brain, reducing stress and increasing body awareness. These aren't massages – they're messages that help dogs think rather than simply react.

Learn Leading Exercises

Specialised groundwork that improves balance, co-ordination, and emotional regulation. As posture changes, behaviour naturally follows. The use of the 2-point harness, the harmony leash, and the connector can be game-changing to teaching dogs (and owners) the importance of loose lead walking.

Equipment In TTouch

Learn about the different pieces of equipment including, labyrinths, harnesses, leads, etc. to help support our canine companions. The two-point Tellington TTouch harness, along with harmony leashes and connectors, are game-changing when it comes to stopping leash pulling.

WHAT CAN TELLINGTON TTOUCH HELP WITH?

Why Choose Xtra Dog Academy?

  • Anxiety and fear-based behaviours - Tellington TTouch calms the nervous system, helping anxious dogs feel safe

  • Reactivity and aggression - By changing how dogs process information, Tellington TTouch reduces reactive responses

  • Hyperactivity and impulse control - By using gentle bodywork and groundwork, TTouch helps reactive dogs pause and think before responding, shifting them from fight-or-flight mode to calmer, more thoughtful behaviour.

  • Recovery from trauma or medical procedures - TTouch's gentle techniques help dogs process and release tension held in their bodies, supporting faster physical recovery and rebuilding trust and confidence after stressful medical experiences.

  • Building confidence in shy or nervous dogs - TTouch's gentle touch and groundwork exercises help timid dogs feel safer in their bodies and environment, gradually building self-assurance and reducing fear-based responses through positive, non-threatening experiences.

  • Enhancing performance and wellbeing - TTouch improves body awareness, balance, and focus, helping active and working dogs perform at their best while maintaining physical and emotional wellness throughout their lives.

  • Pulling on the lead - Using the specialised 2-point TTouch harness, harmony leash, and connector along with groundwork exercises, TTouch teaches dogs balance and self-control, transforming lead walks from a struggle into a calm, connected experience.
